Yonah is a 21-year-old Singer/Songwriter and producer from NYC. He spent last year studying music in Israel and is continuing his studies at The New School of Jazz in New York. With his music, he aims to help people find a healthy escape from a sometimes troubled reality. He conveys his message through his uniquely honest and boyish voice and through the stories he tells in his songs. Some of his biggest influences are The Strokes, Bob Dylan, Adrianne Lenker, and Hobo Johnson.
Yonah employs a skeptical jovialness for the folksy indie rock single “House of Damage.” The pop-tinged melodies add a captivating bluntness to the artist’s refreshing songwriting perspective, creating unique textures that accent the thudding yet simplistic arrangement. Yonah is an artist who chooses his words very carefully, and the no-frills approach to his song craft allows each emotion to be palpable. There is a subtle urgency to “House of Damage” despite its drowsy tempos and relaxed melodies. Rather than channeling his energy into a grandiose outing, Yonah leans on the simplicity of folk while implementing pop tropes on the stirring and vulnerable “House of Damage.”
“‘House of Damage’ is a game changer for how I view the power of truth through penmanship,” explains Yonah. “The outward release of creating riddle and rhyme through naked fact was the most rewarding songwriting experience I’ve ever had.”
