Genre-blending folk band The Rabbitts have been described as “ethereal and understated” on BBC Radio 6 Music. Their unique and colorful sound is characterized by delicate harmonies and an intricately interwoven tapestry of mandolin, guitar, bass, and drums. The Norwich-based band started 2024 with a full-band tour of the UK and has new music on the horizon. This will follow on from their 2023 album Love. They are an ever-evolving group that is constantly creating and rarely staying still.
On The Rabbitts’ “A Moment That I Can’t Describe,” nimble guitar work becomes a glorious display of ambient folk. The arrangement never stops evolving but stays in an irresistible pocket between traditional folk rock and a daring new frontier for the genre. The whimsical yet passionate vocals accent the warping arrangement beautifully. While The Rabbitts build this song around rearranging folk standards, they still nod to more conventional tropes from the genre. The more traditional melodies act as a liaison between the band’s experimentation and traditional folk-rock as the band creates a welcoming atmosphere that refuses to be constrained. The Rabbitts’s “A Moment That I Can’t Describe” continues the band’s exploration into psychedelic folk while introducing them as passionate artists with a natural knack for poetic songwriting.
“As ‘A Moment That I Can’t Describe’ came together in a whirlwind of excitement, we were reminded to enjoy the here and now,” explains the band. It was written in an attempt to counterbalance feelings of insecurity and uncertainty. The song is one of three on our summer EP, The Weight of the Water Above Me.”
