LISTEN: Pump Action’s “Euphoria” Finds Solace In Lush Jazz-Rock Fusion

Pump Action is a Nashville-based alternative rock quartet born in the practice rooms of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. With members from all corners of the country and musical influences ranging from Polyphia to Allen Stone to Fleet Foxes, Pump Action’s eclectic mix of sounds creates a unique vehicle to deliver soulful vocals and introspective lyrics.

The band’s latest single, “Euphoria,” is a lush outing with jazzy undertones and somber melodies. Pump Action created a moody single that lives in the middle ground between soul and rock, with a touch of funk to round out the mystifying fusion work. The vocals could morph into their own living being by implementing subtle psychedelia via dusty bass lines. The spurts of groovy guitars elevate the passionate vocal performance as the vocalist puts on a head-spinning performance. Pump Action found a way to touch on different corners of music while forming their own vision of modern rock fusion on “Euphoria.”

“‘Euphoria’ is a song we’ve been sitting on for years, and we’re so excited to finally release it to the world. The song started out as a college project for our singer’s production class, but we liked it so much that we incorporated it into our original set,” explains the band. “Over the years, it became both a crowd favorite and a band favorite, and after snippets of the song went viral on Instagram and TikTok, we knew it was time to record a studio version. Euphoria is a true representation of the Pump Action sound, fusing classic 70s funk with the grit and energy of modern alternative rock.”
