Lukka’s sound is built on hypnotic grooves, immersive textures, and melody-forward songwriting, blending repetition with expansive, atmospheric production. The core lineup includes bassist Ashley Gonzalez, drummer Simon “SiFi” Fishburn, and Eric Grosshardt on synths. Together, they form a tightly focused ensemble defined by driving bass lines, propulsive rhythms, delayed guitars, and layered analog synths.
Lukka, the brainchild of German-born, New York City-based artist Franzi Szymkowiak, has released “Blue Ocean Eyes,” the third single from their upcoming third album Wendekind, due out June 5. With it, Lukka announces an album release celebration on June 20 at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn.
As the excitement surrounding the release of Wendekind swells to dramatic heights, the latest preview of the LP continues to show immense promise. “Blue Ocean Eyes” amazes with otherworldly textures that dance with the lush, soaring vocals to create a dense yet dynamic piece of unforgettable psych-pop. There is not a single moment throughout this performance that isn’t jaw-dropping. The vocals rise and set with romance and care as they bleed into the whirling synths and space-aged guitar riffs, sending the listener into a trance that doesn’t let go until Lukka says so. Underneath these gorgeous textures lies a beautifully crafted poem that explores the idea of being truly seen, disregarding surface-level elements that make us human, and searching for the nuances of the spirit that make us who we are. “Blue Ocean Eyes” is only a preview of the magic promised on Wendekind, an LP that is gearing up to be a landmark release for Lukka.
