Patty Griffin Confirms $20 Or Less College Tour With Anais Mitchell

Patty Griffin has confirmed tour dates for January and February 2014. Beginning in Denton, Texas on January 23rd, the dates go through February 8th, where she’ll perform in Fort Worth, Texas. All of the dates will be in college towns and all tickets will cost $20 or less. The full list of dates is below. This next leg of touring is still in support of her highly acclaimed, recently released records: American Kid (New West) and the long lost album, Silver Bell (Universal).

American Kid (New West), co-produced by Griffin and Craig Ross, is her seventh and first for New West. It is her first album of mainly new material since the acclaimed Children Running Through in 2007. In between then and now, she made the Grammy Award-winning Downtown Church in 2010 and became a member of Band of Joy alongside Robert Plant.

Anais Mitchell will open for Griffin on the tour. Mitchell released the acclaimed Child Ballads album in early 2013. The Independent (UK) proclaimed Mitchell “the most engaging, and in some ways, most original artist currently working in the field of new American ‘folk’ music,” while Pitchfork said “Mitchell is a skilled storyteller…her delivery gives an emotional complexity that welcomes and even demands repeated listens.”
