STS9 isn’t a band known for playing covers, so you can imagine fans excitement at The Fillmore in Denver when the group opened up its New Year’s Run with an electronica-tinged version of Shakedown Street by the Grateful Dead. Murph and the boys also reprised Shakedown as part of the encore. Here’s a clip of last night’s opener…

STS9 12/29 Setlist…
Set 1: Shakedown Street, This, Us, R & E, Aimlessly, Lion, Music, Us, Kamuy, New Song (Dont Stop The Rock)
Set 2: Moonsocket, Tooth, STS9, Peoples, Circus, Shock D, Arigato, HHHF
E: Frequencies Peace 1>2>3> Shakedown Street (Reprise)
Notes: Shakedown Street is a Grateful Dead cover and this was its first time played. The New Song was a remix of the classic Breakbeat track ‘Dont Stop The Rock‘. Frequencies 1 was short and you might even call it a tease but it was definitely there.
