HT Review: Governor’s Ball Music Festival

When the sun finally did go down headliners Girl Talk and Pretty Lights lived up their names. Both sported impressive stage lights which delighted and entranced the crowd. From the hand picked girls on stage that shook it, to mixes featuring everyone from Lady Gaga to Michael Jackson to the Notorious B.I.G. and with the confetti, balls and toilet paper sprayed into the crowd, every Girl Talk show is the dance party you dream of. Finally, Pretty Lights took the stage on a huge glowing Q*bert style pyramid. The set was reminiscent of the pulse of the city with glowing buildings synched to the undeniable beat.

And about the ferry services…truthfully it wasn’t too bad. While there were a few people who had to push up front, most people had a pretty short wait with the many ferries available to shuttle attendees back and forth to Manhattan. In an attempt by event organizers to please their audience, there was a band by the pier making the wait a bit more bearable and once on the ferry the dance parties often contnued into the streets of lower Manhattan. Like the sign that glowed as you left the island…”see you next year!”
