Heartbreak has always been a great motivator in music, inspiring some truly epic songs and albums. With a ten-year relationship coming to an end, Sonny Smith, the creative force behind the San Francisco-based band Sonny & The Sunsets, began writing tunes inspired by the experience. After releasing a pair of indie-pop records, the band has shifted direction with their latest Longtime Companion, offering up a set of jangly, psychedelic, country rock tunes that take inspiration from the likes of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Beachwood Sparks.
