Singer/songwriter Devendra Banhart will head out this September to premier songs from his as-yet-untitled new studio album.
The tour kicks off September 1 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, B.C., and will make stops throughout the U.S. and Canada through the middle of October, including the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Ore. (September 4), Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, Neb. (September 12), First Avenue in Minneapolis (September 15), the Portage Park Theatre in Chicago (September 18), Danforth Music Hall in Toronto (September 21), the Roxy Ballroom in Boston (September 25), City Hall in Nashville (October 4), La Zona Rosa in Austin (October 7) and the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles (October 13).
Banhart recently posted an intriguing message to fans on his MySpace page mentioning some of the musicians involved in his current project, along with some possible titles (it’s not clear whether he meant song or album titles).
Highlights include "She’s A Hot Dog," "Foreskin Sword (What It Is & How To Use It)," "Who Is Kadamon?," "The Burnt Frizbee," "Abhor The Coagulator (1964 Version)," "Bacchanalian Beat Box," "Rich Gals Shampoo n’ Conditioner Blues," and "Cyber Christ and the Gnostic Titi-slap Part Deux."
