King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – Middle East, Cambridge, MA 6/18/15 (SHOW REVIEW)
There were no cellophane flowers of yellow and green when King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard came through the Boston area’s Middle East Nightclub, but they sure as hell laid their claim to Overlords of the burgeoning Psychedelic Throwback genre. While other Aussie-Psych acts like Tame Impala have taken to crafting songs with a mellow […]

Three hundred lucky souls experienced The Pixies return to their pre-fame stomping grounds to pay final respects to T.T the Bear’s Place, a tiny Boston-area club whose doors will close for good next month. TT’s has been a breeding ground for up and coming talent over the past 30 years, giving acts like Jane’s Addiction, […]
The Governors Ball – Randall’s Island Park – Day 3 Sunday (FESTIVAL RECAP)
The third and final day of the 5th annual Governors Ball was by far the strongest. The weather was perfect, the schedule was exciting and all of the logistics were finally in synch. Young Guns: Sunday afternoon gave a prominent slot to two up and coming rock acts: Tame Impala and Royal Blood. The latter […]
The Governors Ball- Randall’s Island Park – Day 2 Saturday (FESTIVAL RECAP)
Day two of Governors Ball hosted a less impressive lineup but was a more enjoyable day than its predecessor by a mile with added amenities and additional portapotties and less of a mainstream crowd that was there for Drake and Florence the Machine. Bjork had the same time slot as Florence + The Machine had the […]
The Governors Ball – Randall’s Island Park Day 1 Friday – The Good and The Bad (FESTIVAL RECAP)
Day one of the fifth annual Governors Ball had an eclectic set of acts spread across four stages, but as with any festival, the music is just a part of the story. The kickoff of GB5 had its share of good, bad and ugly. The Good: Friday might have been the best day of programing […]

Ray LaMontagne w/ The Belle Brigade/Jason Isbell – Boston, MA 5/30/14 (Show Review)
The pairing of Ray LaMontagne and Jason Isabell couldn’t have made for a better bill and their performance on Boston’s waterfront was proof. It was the first event of the season for the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion (formerly Bank of America Pavilion, formerly Harbor Lights). The sound was a bit raw and some kinks in […]
Prince- Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT 12/28/13
Prince’s performance at Mohegan Sun was just as James Brown as it was Jimi Hendrix and if by some chance, someone in attendance doubted his status as one of the most freakishly talented musical minds alive, they left knowing sure well where the Purple One stands amongst the greats. What made Prince’s second of three […]
Queens of the Stone Age – Agganis Arena, Boston, MA 12/13/13
There’s something in the sound of Queens of the Stone Age that doesn’t feel quite right and it’s awesome. While their riff-heavy brand of desert-bred stoner rock has found its place in the mainstream, there’s something “off” about their tunes. During their performance at Boston’s University Agganis Arena, Frontman Josh Homme and co. vamped through […]
Puscifer: Donkey Punch The Night EP
Puscifer’s Donkey Punch The Night offers a few unique tunes and a cover worth listening to once, but as a whole, the EP is the most lacking studio product Maynard James Keenan has put out in recent memory.
Catalpa NYC Music Festival : Day One – Randall’s Island, NYC, NY 7/28/12
The first day of the inaugural Catalpa/NYC Music Festival kicked off with more logistical problems than could be counted but ended on a high note with a barn burning headline performance by The Black Keys.
Catalpa NYC
Catalpa NYC is taking Randall’s Island captive this July with performances from artists ranging from The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, and Girl Talk, to Matisyahu and Umphrey’s Mcgee. The tri-state area is notorious for being a Bermuda triangle of sorts when it comes to music festivals as festivals in New York tend to disappear (All Points West anyone?). With this in mind, Glide caught up with the festivals promoter, Dave Foran, to discuss how the festival came to be, what he aims to accomplish, and how he hopes it will look in 2013.
Dropkick Murphys: Tsongas Center at Umass Lowell, Lowell, MA 3/17/12
No group is more responsible for the creation and popularization of Celtic punk than the Dropkick Murphys (no, not even Flogging Molly). To say Saint Patrick’s Day is a big date on their tour calendar is an understatement. St. Patty’s Day is to the Dropkicks what Halloween and New Years Eve are combined for most jambands.
Bjork – Biophilia Tour
2011 saw the release of Björk’s latest studio record, Biophilia, but the ten songs comprising the record were in many ways just the tip of the iceberg for the Biophilia project.
Trust Me, I
It is a little disturbing how many people with very serious problems wrote to the former (and future) Black Sabbath front-man regarding serious medical problems, and while he was always willing to put his two cents in, Ozzy told every single one of them to visit a real doctor. Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy isn’t going to change the way you live day to day, but it will provide you with plenty of entertaining anecdotes that just may prove to be applicable to your life.
Donald Glover: Attack of the Childish Gambino
His writing for The Daily Show and 30 Rock got the attention of NBC who cast him on Community alongside Chevy Chase and E! Entertainment’s Joel McHale. But I’m interviewing him before a sold out show at Boston’s House of Blues where he’ll be performing as Childish Gambino, a hip hop persona many have compared to both Kanye and Drake.
