The passing of founding Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, who died on May 20th of complications from his battle with bile duct cancer in a Rosenheim, Germany hospital at age 74, has sent waves of shock and sorrow across four generations of rock fans who sought the rapture of electric wonder through his Vox Continental combo organ during his band's iconic nine-year run.  Here are ten videos Glide has unearthed on YouTube chronicling the many twists and turns in the career of this true genius and innovator.

Of course, Jazz Fest 2013 is loaded with big boy headlining musicians: Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Patti Smith, Maroon 5, BB King, the Black Keys, Widespread Panic, Earth Wind & Fire, the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Ben Harper, Willie Nelson, George Benson, Dr John and Frank Ocean. But, there a few other less obvious ones… Glide took a look at the cubes and picked the top 10 other artists to see while at Jazz Fest.

The 7th annual Record Store Day is just days away, and the list of exclusive releases for the 2013 season is longer than the line for Guns ‘n’ Roses’ Use Your Illusion back in the day. But Glide has scoured the RSD release schedule to cobble together a list of 50 picks for you to keep an eye out for when you venture into the doorway of your favorite local record shop this coming Saturday, a wild and wooly hodgepodge of CDs, cassettes, 7-inches, 12-inches, heavyweight vinyl and NO DOWNLOADS that should cater to the tastes of just about everyone who has clicked on this page. So get your pen and paper or notepad app for your iPad ready, list up and make sure you get up early for your record run because these things are going to go super quick.

2012 wasn't a very flashy year for new music, but what it did spawn were well-wrought, thoughtful and multi-layered releases that balanced introspection with muscle, unafraid to maybe make a few missteps but unabashed in their verve for making good, solid music.

While it feels like festival season has only recently come to a close with the end of CMJ in New York City, this week the SXSW Music Festival announced the first wave of invited acts who will perform during the weeklong extravaganza, running from Tuesday, March 12 to Sunday, March 17, 2013. A Van Halen tribute band? In a coveted Saturday late-night spot at Bonnaroo 2012? With Skrillex playing late night on the Which Stage, perhaps the organizers (or his management) didn’t want to put another electronic act opposite him. If so, then Bonnaroo succeeded at giving the rest of the crowd a group of shows as far removed from the style of Skrillex as possible. However, it is likely that those people will still be able to see the lights of Skrillex’s mammoth production from anywhere on the grounds – even clear across Centeroo, at That Tent, where the Van Halen tribute will, presumably, actually be happening.
