CBGB, the club Hilly Kristal opened in 1973, which would eventually become known as the birthplace of punk, is facing it’s possible last days. In conflict with the Bowery Residents Committee over back rent and impending rate hikes, the club’s lease expires on August 31st. And while efforts are made to save the historic venue, the future of the seminal club remains unknown.

Over the past four years, the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in rural Manchester, Tennesee has become the premiere summer event for its diversified roster, eclectic sounds and 70 hours of subdued summer chaos. Here’s a glimpse into what went down at Bonnaroo 2005.

Sure there are concept albums that have cemented themselves amongst rock and roll lore. Tommy, Quadrophenia and The Wall are a few of those recordings that immediately springs to mind. But what about concept bands? Gorillaz, the creation of Blur frontman Damon Albarn and cult illustrator Jamie Hewlet, is a cartoon four piece of brash musicians that despite their fictional front, possess unyielding powers that generates fresh cuts of hip-hop, dub, reggae and punk.
