20 Years Ago Today – The Cars Founder/Co-Lead Singer/Bassist Benjamin Orr Dies at 53 (Watch “Moving in Stereo” Live ’78)

20 years ago today (10/3/00), The Cars’ co-lead-singer and bass player Benjamin Orr died of cancer at home in Atlanta at the age of 53. Orr sang lead vocals on familiar Cars hits like “Just What I Needed”, “Bye Bye Love”, “Moving In Stereo”, “Let’s Go”, “It’s All I Can Do”, and “Drive”. With the passing of Ric Ocasek in September 2019, that leaves both vocalists of The Cars deceased.  Watch The Cars perform “Moving in Stereo” with Orr on lead vocals from 1978.
