20 years ago today (9/26/03) the late vocalist Robert Palmer died at the age of 54. One of the coolest there ever was, Palmer had a highly underrated career before hitting the mainstream in the mid-1980s. Palmer’s sophisticated style and distinctive, soulful voice showcased a mix of soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues and any of his first six albums are absolute keepers. He found commercial success with the Power Station in the 80s and his famous music videos, directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan, for the hits “Addicted to Love”, “Simply Irresistible” and “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On.” Check out Mr. Palmer deliver “Every Kinda People” live in 1978
