25 Years Ago Today – Primus Releases ‘Antipop’ Album

Twenty-five years ago today (10/19/99), Primus released its sixth studio album, Antipop. Produced by the band, along with various tracks: Tom Morello, Stewart Copeland, Tom Waits, Matt Stone, and Fred Durst, it was the final release by the band before their hiatus from 2000 to 2003. It was also their last album with drummer Brain, before Les Claypool would go onto more jam-oriented projects including Oysterhead and Flying Frog Brigade. There was many a heavy tune on Antipop, but perhaps the most surprising was Tom Waits on ‘Coattails of a Dead Man.’ Check out Primus at their weirdest on the aforementioned tune.
