25 years ago today (5/22/01), Whiskeytown released their third and final album Pneumonia. The album sat on the shelf for nearly two years and arrived nearly two years after the band had already essentially fallen apart due to label mergers, lineup instability, and Ryan Adams’s unpredictability. By the time listeners finally heard it, Adams had already launched his solo career with Heartbreaker, making Pneumonia feel a bit too late in the game for proper promotion; however, years later, the album still holds up.
