28 years ago today (7/2/91), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers released their eighth studio album Into The Great Wide Open. The album was the second Petty produced with Jeff Lynne after the success of Petty’s solo debut Full Moon Fever and contained two hits that had heavy MTV rotation including the title track and “Learning To Fly.” The rest of the album is no filler, all timeless compositions that remain poignant today.
