50 years ago today (7/3/69), Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones was found dead in his swimming pool in England. The death is ruled accidental, although Jones, 27, has high levels of alcohol and barbiturates in his blood. Jones was a founding member of The Stones and was originally the leader of the group and came up with the band’s name. Although later over-shadowed by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger, Jones added a distinct sound with his slide guitar and multi instruments including theremin and sitar.
