30 Years Ago Today – Aretha Franklin Becomes First Woman Inducted Into Rock Roll Hall of Fame (Watch Induction)

30 years ago today (1/3/87)  Aretha Franklin became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1986, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its first group of inductees: Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke and the Everly Brothers. Aretha followed in its second year and rightfully so as the Queen of Soul still remains hugely influential.

Aretha was’t present at the ceremonies in ’97 but watch Keith Richards, along with Clive Davis and Aretha’s brother Cecil Franklin, toast the Queen of Soul and read her acceptance speech on her behalf…
