30 years ago today (7/21/92), Sonic Youth released Dirty, its seventh full-length album (and a double album at that). At the top of their game in the alt-rock revolution of 1992, the band inhabited a grunge edge that spawned four singles including the ravenous “100%.” This Butch Vig-produced effort received acclaim and many consider it the true last great Sonic Youth album, although their following albums were certainly no slouch efforts.
