40 years ago today (10/3/83), Genesis released their twelfth studio album – Genesis. The self-titled album with its shape sorters in black and gold came to symbolize the new pop era of this Phil Collins-led band, with Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford pulling their share. With its biting electronic elements, the album was a commercial success, reaching number one on the UK charts and spawning several hit singles, including “Mama,” “That’s All” and “Home By The Sea” – the latter being one of the band’s most adventurous live compositions in its later years.
