40 years ago today (9/3/84), Iron Maiden released their fifth studio album Powerslave, which contains some of their most battle-tested anthems, including the title track, “Aces High,” Two Minutes To Midnight,” and “Rime of the Ancient Mariner.” Powerslave typically ends up in the top three in many Best of Iron Maiden album lists and features the band’s mascot, Eddie, depicted as a pharaoh, tying in with the album’s Egyptian themes.
