40 Years Ago Today- Journey Release Platinum Selling ‘Escape’ LP (Watch “Who’s Crying Now” Live ’81)

40 years ago today (7/17/81), Steve Perry era Journey hit the big time with the release of its seventh album Escape. Stylized as E5C4P3 on the album cover, the album which was the first with keyboardist Jonathan Cain (replacing Gregg Rolle) featured four hit Billboard Hot 100 singles – “Don’t Stop Believin'” (#9), “Who’s Crying Now” (#4), “Still They Ride” (#19) and “Open Arms” (#2).
