42 years ago today (4/25/80), Black Sabbath released their ninth studio LP Heaven and Hell. It was the first Black Sabbath album to feature vocalist Ronnie James Dio, who replaced original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne in 1979, and marks a significant return to musical form after the lackluster result of 1978’s Never Say Die. Dio would go on as lead vocalist for two more Sabbath albums (Mob Rules, 1981; Dehumanizer, 1992) and another band titled Heaven & Hell, which featured Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler.
