Happy 80th birthday to perhaps the most prolific drummer in the history of rock -Jim Keltner (born 4/27/42). As the most revered go-to session drummer of all time (outside of Hal Blaine), Keltner certainly deserves his spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As the drummer for the supergroup of all supergroups – Traveling Wilburys, Keltner has played on a holy grail of albums by Harry Nilsson, Bob Dylan, Steely Dan, John Lennon, Leon Russell, Elvis Costello, Dolly Parton, Ry Cooder, Eric Clapton, Randy Newman, Fiona Apple, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Mick Jagger, George Harrison and B.B. King to just name (honestly) a few. Yeah, this guy has a magical timekeeping flavor that keeps studio time efficient and productive. Let’s watch the always eye shaded Keltner talk drums at Guitar Center..
