45 Years Ago – Rory Gallagher Released S/T Debut Solo Album (Watch Beat Club Session Clips ’71/72)

45 years ago today (5/23/71), Irish blues rock musician Rory Gallagher released his first solo album Rory Gallagher. The LP marked his departure from Taste. After disbanding Taste, Gallagher auditioned some of the best musicians available at the time including Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell the bassist and drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He decided on two Belfast musicians; drummer Wilgar Campbell, and bass guitarist Gerry McAvoy to be the core of his new power trio band. Watch clips for Gallagher from the Beat Club Sessions 71/72
