50 Years Ago Today – Neil Young Launches Time ‘Fades Away’ Tour With Linda Ronstadt As Opener

50 years ago today (1/4/73), Neil Young launched Time Fades Away tour in Madison, Wisconsin at Dane County Coliseum. Time Fades Away was a live album consisting of previously unreleased material including stellar cuts “Don’t Be Denied,” “Journey Through The Past,” and “Love In Mind.” It was recorded with The Stray Gators on the supporting tour following 1972’s Harvests and this ’73 tour would include The Stray Gators as well. Of particular note about this opening show – Linda Ronstadt was the opening act, performing her first arena gig prior to her ’73 breakthrough Heart Like A Wheel. While the Madison show isn’t available to hear, check out four nights later in Detroit at Cobo Hall ’73
