50 years ago today (7/14/70), Supertramp released their self-titled debut LP. This hard to find LP has been published under the title Now and Then and it was not released in the United States until late 1977, This early incarnation of the band featured founders, lead vocalists and songsmiths Rogers Hodgson and Rick Davies, who like all Supertramp albums up to 1982’s …Famous Last Words…featured both of them trading off song ownership and lead vocals. Although the band didn’t make a large impression till 1974’s Crime of the Century, this 1970 debut displays one of the first real displays of prog-pop. Check out “It’s A Long Road” off the LP
