50 years ago today (2/7/73), The Stooges released their third studio album Raw Power. Considered one of punk’s most fiery influences, The Stooges led by the incomparable Iggy Pop, brought on eight tracks that loaded up in listeners’ faces from the get-go beginning with “Search and Destroy.” Raw Power featured Scott and Ron Asheton on drums and bass respectively, and with Ron switching to bass on this release, the band welcomed in guitarist James Williamson, whose aggressive style gave Raw Power its signature proto-punk sound.
