50 Years Ago Today – Yes Releases ‘The Yes Album’ & Fortifies Prog Fortunes (Watch “Yours Is No Disgrace” Live)

50 years ago today (2/19/71), Yes released their third album The Yes Album, signalling a major shift in their sound that laid the groundwork for the entire progressive rock phase one of their storied career. This was the first album to feature the world-class fingerstyle guitar work of Steve Howe, and it put them on another level overnight. This lineup of Howe, Jon Anderson, Chris Squire Bill Bruford and Tony Kaye experienced their first real writing collaborations, creating the classic Yes sound amongst featured tracks like “Starship Trooper,” “I’ve Seen All Good People” and Yours is No Disgrace.” Watch “Yours Is No Disgrace” live in ’71
