52 Years Ago Today- Pigpen Plays His Last Show With Grateful Dead

52 years ago today (6/17/72), keyboard player and founding member of the Grateful Dead Ron “Pigpen” McKernan played his last show with the band at the Hollywood Bowl. Health problems forced him to stop touring, and he died in March 1973 at age 27.
