70 Years Ago Today – The Late Butch Trucks Was Born (Watch Allman Brothers Band 40th Anniversary Show)

70 years ago today (5/11/47), Allman Brothers Band founding member and drummer, the late Butch Trucks was born. The uncle of Derek, played through all incarnations of the band and was always a vital voice and spokesperson for the band. Alongside drummer and percussionist Jai “Jaimoe” Johnny Johanson, they formed the two drum assault that would propel the band’s legendary rhythmic section that would later include Marc Quiñones. Trucks died from a self-inflicted gunshot on 1/24/17. In memory of Butch, let’s watch the Allman Brothers 40th Anniversary Show from 3/26/09 at the Beacon Theatre.
