70 Years Ago Today – The Late Malcolm Young Was Born

70 years ago today (1/6/53), the late Malcolm Young (co-founder of AC/DC) was born. Young alongside his younger brother Angus provided a loud bluesy rhythmic stomp quite unlike anything heard in rock, while Malcolm provided some of the most endearing and growling rhythm guitar lines in hard rock- earning him acclaim as one of the greatest rhythm guitar players ever. Young passed away in November 2017 after suffering from dementia which made him leave the band a few years following the conclusion of 2010’s Black Ice World Tour. Check out AC/DC holding the stadium’s attention during this cut of “Thunderstruck” Live at River Plate (December 2009), one of Malcolm’s last big shows.
