75 years ago today (7/15/47), whom most consider the Godfather of Psychedelic Rock- Roky Erickson – was born. From his groundbreaking worth with the 13th Floor Elevators to his solo worth with The Aliens, Erickson provided a vibrantly shocking presentation of rock that many of today’s bands including The Black Angels were inspired by. Erickson spent much of his second half in seclusion, but in the final years of his life, Erickson returned to public life, was the subject of the documentary film “You’re Gonna Miss Me” and began recording and touring again, including a renowned appearance on Austin City Limits in 2005.
