Happy 60th birthday today to banjo maestro Bela Fleck. The multi-Grammy winner has been known to break many boundaries of genres in his collaborations from his band the Flecktones to his works with New Grass Revival, Edgar Meyer, Stanley Clarke, Chic Corea, Jean Luc-Ponty and most recently wife Abigail Washburn. Fleck fosters a creative springboard as large as any one musician’s and he continues to redefine his instrument. Watch Bela and the Flecktones live at the Montreal Jazz Festival on 7/4/98.
