Happy 70th birthday today to mandolin major Sam Bush (born 4/13/52). The veteran mandolinist (who also plays fiddle, banjo, and guitar) has been on the scene for more than 50 years, making his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Helping to create the newgrass genre, Bush continues to tour constantly and remains an electric ambassador by bridging the gap between traditional & progressive bluegrass.
