50 Years Ago Today – Stephen Stills & Manassas Release Debut Double Album

50 years ago today (4/12/72), Stephen Stills opened the musical floodgates with his diverse blues and jazz-influenced band Manassas and their double album of the same name. One of rocks’ most underrated yet persevering rock, the band also featured Chris Hillman, Al Perkins, Paul Harris, and Dallas Taylor, combining to become a lesser-known supergroup, a departure for Still having just been in the over-blown supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash and sometimes Young.
