Happy 70th Birthday To “Ace” Vocalist Paul Carrack (Watch “How Long” Live)

Happy 70th birthday today to one of the greatest blue-eyed soul singers of the last 50 years- Paul Carrack (born 4/22/51). As many have said, if vocal talent alone equaled greatness, Carrack would be up there with the titanic of Rod Stewart and Elton John. Carrack, also a talented keyboardist, helped found the band Ace and their debut single, “How Long”, was written and sung by Carrack and was a 1975 hit in both the UK and the United States. Carrack later joined new-wavers Squeeze and sang lead vocals on their tantalizing single “Tempted.” Carrack then joined Mike and the Mechanics and played on numerous records and tours as a session musician/keyboardist and recently has been in Eric Clapton’s live band. Check out Ace in their early days perform the song that never gets old – “How Long
