Some may know him as the bandana-headed/one-leg-up flautist and loyal fans Jehtro Tull fans adore him as the leader and voice of one of rock’s most revered catalogs of music. Happy 75th Birthday today to Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull (born 8/10/47). From classics like Aqualung and Thick As A Brick, to lesser-known songs and albums in the band’s twenty-two album discography, no artist or band has blended folk and prog with such a heavy-sounding commitment. In fact, Anderson and Tull won the Grammy award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 1988 beating out Metallica.
