30 Years Ago Today – The Flaming Lips Release Fifth Full-Length LP ‘Hit to Death in the Future Head’

30 years ago today (8/11/92), The Flaming Lips released their fifth full-length album Hit to Death in the Future Head, and their debut album on Warner Bros. Records. The album marked the final one from the band without multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd on the album itself, as he would later join for the subsequent support tour. Hit to Death received mixed reviews, yet set in motion what would soon become a new era for the band of MTV visibility (“She Don’t Use Jelly”) that would follow shortly after.
