WATCH: Gorillaz With Beck Perform “Possession Island” On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

The music of Gorillaz has always felt timeless and their recent activities have only proven this sentiment further. February saw them release their infectious, synth-heavy LP Cracker Island and in classic Gorillaz fashion, the list of features was extensive and impressive. A highlight of the album is their collaboration with Beck, who provided vocals on the song “Possession Island”; last night (April 19), that song was brought to life on TV sets nationwide. Gorillaz appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform “Possession Island” and even brought along the featured artist to make a guest appearance for the performance.

Frontman Damon Albarn sits confidently behind his piano to start the set off as the rest of the band is positioned behind him for the ballad. Flashes of the animated band appeared on screen as the sinfully sweet piano melody from Albarn wafted through the room. It wasn’t long before Beck walked out on stage to make this intimate performance a duet with the two vocalists harmonizing beautifully while adding a new context to “Possession Island”.

Gorillaz also just got done with their first of two weekends at 2023’s Coachella festival. All of this comes after the band embarked on a massive world tour in 2022, the same year the band began prepping for the now highly-celebrated release of Cracker Island
