Reunited Beach Boys Announce Massive Tour

On Sunday we got our first look at the reunited Beach Boys as part of the Grammys telecast and their performance didn’t impress. The harmonies were there, but Mike Love freaked us out with his finger wagging and Brian Wilson didn’t seem enthused (not that he has even seemed excited in the last 20 years). However the non senior citizens of the group, members of Brian Wilson’s solo band, were in fine form and we’re hopeful with more rehearsal the Beach Boys will be able to put on a good show.

We’ll find out just what the Beach Boys have in store come April 24, when the group kicks off a lengthy tour in Tucson, Ariz. High profile dates include New Orleans Jazz Fest and Bonnaroo appearances, two nights at NYC’ Beacon Theatre in May and a run of sheds this summer. John Stamos will be a part of this tour according to Love, though we’re bummed not to see Jesse & The Rippers listed as support.

  1. more like Beach Men at this point but it would be fantastic to have them booked here at Wilson Amphitheater, at the base of the beautiful turquoise mountains. of course that’s not possible since we have a John Stamos ban in place.

interesting mix of venue sizes on this tour.

  2. Yes indeed! The music is timeless & exuberant. I’m expecting the performances will be up & the audiences satisfied.

Saw them for free as an ‘opener’ to an Ohio Glory football game (their only year, heh) outdoors at The Shoe. Relentless downpour all afternoon, until the Beach Boys took the stage. By the end of the first song the rain had stopped & the clouds parted. Magic! Everybody was ‘surfing’ on the stadium benches & the band sounded great!

  3. I have seen both versions of the beach boys I enjoy both but I like seeing the all the old guys together. I love there music I have seen the beachboys over a dozon times and would go anytime I get a chance.
