Phil & Friends Debut Two New Covers at Crossroads

Last night we got our first live glimpse of Phil Lesh’s new Terrapin Crossroads venue through a free webcast featuring the Phil & Friends lineup (Lesh, Jackie Greene, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Joe Russo and Jeff Chimenti) that will play three shows at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colo. starting tomorrow night. Lesh introduced the venue and told fans it would look a lot different the next time they see it (opening night at the Grate Room is scheduled for March 17) before starting the show in typical P&F fashion – with a jam.

During the approximately 75-minute performance, Phil’s band tackled a number of Grateful Dead classics as well as a pair of covers that have never been played by any lineup of Phil and Friends – Derek and the Dominos’ Layla and Magic Bus by The Who. Greene alternated between B3 organ and guitar, while Haynes and Scofield dueled viciously throughout the set. Here’s a look at the setlist…

Set: Jam > Althea, Scarlet > Fire, St. Stephen, Layla*, Cryptical Envelopment > Magic Bus* > The Other One > I Know You Rider

Encore: Goin’ Down The Road Feelin’ Bad

* – First Time Played

And here’s a look at the end jam and famed piano coda from Layla…
