Friday Mix Tape: Go West Young Man
Sometime around 1 PM today the initial installment of the All Points West gets underway in Jersey City, NJ. It’s the first major music festival here in the Northeast, and while it’s may not be jammed to the gills with stages and acts like some its other brethren they’re still bringing in a fantastic line […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Freak Folk Pin-Up Girl
Natalie Portman is slowly becoming the Winona Ryder of the aughts. The diminutive actress has been romantically linked to the likes of Moby, Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and mostly recently has been spotted canoodling with the poster-child of the freak-folk movement, Devendra Banhart. Not helping to squash the rumors, the long-haired hippie-who looks […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Hang In There
I was pretty bummed last week when news hit that Dr. Dog would have to cancel their tour opening show at Bowery Ballroom because of bass player Toby Leaman’s vocal troubles. As the Philly-based band’s tour rolls on through the month of August I’ll be anxiously awaiting their re-scheduled show at the end of the […]
Tour Dates: Light Up America
It’s been more than a quarter of a century since Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have performed live on-stage as their stoner comedy personas Cheech & Chong. Well, come this September that will all change as the duo will embark on their Light Up America tour – the duo’s first in over 25 years. Tickets […]
AfterNews: James Bond/Vineland/CCR
James Bond movies are usually generally memorable for a few things – great gadgets, hot chicks and those opening credit theme songs. For the latest Bond flick Quantum Of Solace, which hits theaters this November, the odd duo of Jack White and Alicia Keys have recorded the White penned and produced track Another Way To […]
Bloggy Goodness: Show Me The Money
Amidst Billy Corgan’s planned 20th anniversary celebration shows and deluxe box-set reissuing of his band’s debut album Gish, comes some bad news for the bald-headed front man of alt-rockers the Smashing Pumpkins. Two of his former estranged band mates – James Iha and D’Arcy Wretzky-Brown – have filed a lawsuit against Virgin Records claiming the […]

Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Living In Reseda
You probably best know Bob Odenkirk as one half of the hilarious duo that brought us the fantastic cult sketch comedy show – Mr. Show. His comedy partner David Cross has been entrenched in the indie-rock scene for awhile now, both as an opening act as well as appearing in and directing a number of […]

Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Feelin’ Groovy
Jelly NYC, the folks that put on the wildly popular Pool Parties at Brooklyn’s McCarren Pool, can’t seem to catch a break this summer. Either it’s been stiflingly hot out or there have been severe thunderstorms that have rolled through town – two reasons that have kept me away from the free festivities. Yesterday, I […]
Tour Dates: Who Are You?
Over forty years into their career Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are still as capable as they were in their heyday of rockin’ mass audiences. Anyone who has seen The Who since they returned to the road in the late ’90s can attest to that. The band, who were recently honored by Vh1, is set […]
Friday Mix Tape: Do You Like To Laugh?
We thought we’d take a break from the norm this week and offer a mix tape dedicated to some great comedy – because who doesn’t like to get their laugh on? So let’s take a listen to some great indie-comics, as well as a couple of classics. We’ll do our best to give a bit […]
Bloggy Goodness: The Shit Box
No one is ever going to claim that they enjoy using a Porta-Potty, but the portable toilets are a necessary staple of outdoor concerts and festivals. These tiny versions of a bathroom are usually a dicey affair at best, and depending on how frequently they’re serviced often you’re better off holding it in for duration […]
Reminder HT Giveaway: Warren Haynes DVD
Warren Haynes is easily the hardest working man in jam. Between splitting time in the Allman Brothers and Gov’t Mule, the guitar-slinger is also the default go-to guy if you’re looking for a sit-in. I’m convinced that much like a Shazzan, if you shout his name at a show he’s obligated to appear. In addition to his on-stage work, each year the affable Haynes puts together his X-Mas Jam to benefit Habitat For Humanity.
So why am I telling you all of this? Well for our latest installment of Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away we’ve got two copies of Warren’s XMas Jam benefit concert DVD up for grabs. Just follow the rules below:
- To enter the contest leave a comment below telling us about your favorite Warren Haynes sit-in in 50 words of less
- Your comment must be left by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday July 27th

‘Tubes: Knockin’ ‘Round Pancake Mountain
While we grew up with Sesame Street, The Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact, there is a new generation that is learning the basics from the wildly irreverent kid’s show – which is equally aimed at adults – Pancake Mountain. If you’re not familiar you might want to start with watching this entertaining piece entitled What […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Albert Hammond Jr.’s GfC
