Bloggy Goodness: Laziness Abounds
Between the Home Run Derby, sticking around for all 15 innings of the All Star Game and my birthday yesterday I’ve had quite the week and I’m completely wrecked. I’ve been neglecting my duties around here, but things get back to normal next week. In the meantime, let’s check in and see what’s goin’ on […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Take Me Out To The Ballgame
A couple months back we mentioned the debut album from music collective known as The Baseball Project. Well, since we’ve reached the “official” half-way mark of the baseball season and with New York in the midst of All Star fever-maybe just me since I’ll be hitting the festivities tonight and tomorrow-we thought we’d tie things […]
Bloggy Goodness: Colour Me Bad
At long last there’s a way to ensure your offspring are hip to the latest in indie-rock at a young age. For his final project at England’s Huddersfield University, Andy J. Miller created Colour It (Red) a coloring and activity book inspired by songs from his favorite indie-bands such as Beirut and TV on the […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Christmas In July
Last night for the second time in a four month span I had a chance to take in a set from Seattle folk-rockers Fleet Foxes. For only their second visit to the Big Apple (and first as a headliner) the band impressively sold out the Bowery Ballroom, where they played to an enthusiastic crowd that […]
HeadCount Poster Series
We’re ardent supporters of HeadCount and their fantastic efforts to get people to register to vote and out to the polls this November – no matter whom your supporting. So we thought we’d share some news out of their camp about some very cool limited edition posters they have for sale… We are pleased to […]
Tour Dates: Eddie Goes Solo
Back in April, Eddie Vedder played a handful of rare solo dates up and down the West Coast – partly in support of his Into The Wild soundtrack. Come this August the Pearl Jam frontman will do it again with a six city tour that will include multiple nights in Boston, New York, Toronto, the […]
Friday Mix Tape: 4th Of July Jams
I’m busting my proverbial cherry this week, first with a B List and now with my inaugural crack at a Friday Mix Tape. This one should be perfect to throw on while your grilling up some dogs, crackin’ open your favorite bevie and watching fireworks. We kick things off Cody ChessnuTT’s ’70s afro-funk, pro-Obama jam […]
The B List: Top 6 Of The First 6
I’ve been writing full time here for about five months or so, and figured it was about high time that I took a crack at offering up a B List. Last week the HT Staff gathered Around The BBQ to gab about some of our favorite music of the year, so far. To continue on that theme I thought I’d give you a more focused list of my favorite albums of ’08 with my Top 6 Of The First 6.

Taking a quick glance at my iTunes I was a bit underwhelmed by the majority of the music that has been injected onto my iPod, but here’s the best of what I’ve heard…
6. Girl Talk – Feed The Animals
When I tell my friends how much I’ve been loving this album they seem to scratch their heads a bit. Not because this isn’t a killer party album, it’s just because I’m not the type to usually like killer party albums. But what’s not to like here? Greg Gillis has essentially taken the last 40 plus years of pop music and smushed it into a powered packed hour of samples and beats. Within one song he offers up hooks from Procol Harum, Fergie, The Band and 50 Cent – and that’s just scratching the surface. This is the feel good album of the summer and quite possibly the year. READ ON for more of the B List…
Bloggy Goodness: Is That Obama Rock? Turn It Up!
Back in February the surviving members of the Grateful Dead (sans Mr. Kreutzmann) put aside their difference and reunited on stage for a fund raiser for Barack Obama. Well, as we enter the months leading up to Election Day other half of the bands rhythm section, Mickey Hart, spilled the news to Billboard that the […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: 99 Problems, But Noel Ain’t One
A few months back Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher singled out Jay Z as the reason that this weekend’s Glastonbury festival didn’t sell out – claiming there was no place for hip hop at the historically rock heavy festie. While the rap impresario did issue a response, he saved his real retribution for his performance last […]
Tour Dates: Down By The Sea
It might not have the coolest line up around but the list of performers for the 30th annual Seaside Summer Concert Series was revealed earlier this week. Geared more towards the boomer audiences this free music series boasts shows from the likes of Michael Bolton and Liza Minnelli. So why am I mentioning this? Well, […]
Bloggy Goodness: Sly, Axl, Slash & Puppies!?!?
Leave it to Sebastian Bach to provide us with one of the more entertaining stories of the week. The former Skid Row front man spun a tale to Rock Daily about how he almost got both Axl Rose and Slash to jam with Sly Stone in the studio on separate occasions. Apparently the reason that […]
Briefly: Kanye Responds To The Haters
Kanye West finally has something to say about the debacle that was his Bonnaroo debut, and judging from his comments I wouldn’t expect to him to get an another invite anytime soon. Check out this post from his blog… I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: If I Had A Hammer
Summer officially arrived last Friday night around 7:40 or so – don’t ask me how they determine that, it seems kind of arbitrary to me. While you may have already been hard at work preparing your perfect beach music mix, I’ve got one more track for you that needs to be included – it’s bouncy, […]
Tribute: R.I.P. George Carlin [1937 – 2008]
I woke up on this gloomy Monday morning here in New York to the sad news that legendary comedian George Carlin had passed away last night at the age of 71. The sharp tongued Carlin was probably most famous for his bit on the Seven Deadly Words You Can Never Say On Television, which lead […]
Tour Dates: SPAC Attack
If I was to dream up a fest this summer consisting of some of the best roots singer/songwriters around, the line up would come pretty darn close to the one that was revealed for the inaugural Saratoga Music Festival. The one day fest to be held at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on August 17 […]
Tonight: The Weather Underground @ The Merc
Last night I trekked out to Brooklyn to catch former Blips artist The Weather Underground play their first ever New York show at Park Slope’s Union Hall. Performing for a crowd of barely 30 people they impressed the hell out of me playing the room like it was a sold out club three or four […]
BG: Wouldn’t You Like To Be A Pepper Too?
It’s been a bit of a hectic week for me as the real job has been getting in the way. I’ve been so out of touch that Google Reader is telling me I have over a 1,000 stories that I still need to get to. Luckily, I’ve got a few choice links to share with […]
A Very Special Bonnaroo Link Dump
As the last of the cars and RVs pull out the dusty lots of Bonnaroo this morning, let’s take a look back at the weekend that seemed to have a number of fantastic epic highs and one monster low. We’ll break down the coverage from each day… Thursday What Made Milwaukee Famous opened this year’s […]
Tour Dates: Elementary My Dear Watson(s)
Chandra and Leigh Watson, better known as The Watson Twins, made a name for themselves as the back up singers on Rilo Kiley front woman Jenny Lewis’ solo debut. The duo will hit the road on July 9 for a co-headlining tour with Tim Fite. July 9 is also the very same day their full […]
