30 years ago today (1/11/92), grunge hit the mainstream as Nirvana’s music industry changing LP Nevermind went to #1 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. On that very Saturday, the group also appeared on Saturday Night Live where they performed “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Territorial Pissings” At the end of the latter song, Krist Novoselic hurls his bass into the air and dramatically piles right down on top of him.
