30 years ago today (11/1/94), Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York was released, Taped as an all-acoustic show for “MTV Unplugged” at Sony Studios in New York. The show was shot in one take – imperfections and all – and was aired one month later. MTV Unplugged in New York was the first Nirvana album released following the death of Kurt Cobain and the band’s first official live album. Cris and Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets sat in on three Meat Puppets songs, and the band was joined by guitarist Pat Smear and cellist Lori Goldston, who had been touring with them.
