Happy 47th birthday today to Chan Mashall better known as Cat Power, who was born on 1/21/72. Its been since 2012’s Sun, since the last Cat Power album but the soulful indie singer songwriter always keeps listens on their listening toes. After 20 plus years , Marshall has evolved from a confessional songwriter — one who embraced minimalism, worked closely with Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley to one whose albums routinely end up on best of year end lists.
