Radiohead To Sign With Indie Label?

Radiohead is reportedly close to signing a deal to release their new album ‘In Rainbows’ independently.

According to the New York Times, the band is on the verge of signing a deal to release the CD version of the album in the US with ATO Records, which is headed by Coran Capshaw — Dave Matthews Band‘s manager and co-owner.

Under the proposed deal, Radiohead would license the album for a specified period of time while retaining ownership of the recording.

Major labels including Warner Brothers Records, Columbia Records and Starbucks were reportedly engaged in a bidding war for the album, but it looks as though Radiohead will be leaving the major labels behind for a more independent business model.

It also looks likely that British label XL Recordings will market the album internationally.
