The Salem, Massachusetts YMCA will host a one-of-a-kind performance and student clinic with three of the world’s top professional drummers.
The concert will feature Dave DiCenso (drummer for Josh Groban), Rich Redmond (drummer for Jason Aldean), and James Murphy (drummer for the Blue Man Group). It will take place on June 10th from 7:00PM until 9:30PM in the Ames Hall inside the Salem YMCA at 290 Essex Street.
These three world class drummers will be performing solo sets as well as a first time ever trio drum set performance. A Q&A and clinic session with local students will follow the performance. Students are strongly encouraged to attend.
This concert is the second of the new Salem YMCA Concert Series, with all proceeds benefitting the Salem YMCA’s new music studio and programming. The first concert in the series in May 2014 featured four incredible local bands who performed free of charge to support the Salem Y and their music program.
Local band The Dejas (Aaron Katz, Callie Lipton) are among those to perform, and have been instrumental in helping to organize these concerts and kicking off the YMCA’s efforts to create a comprehensive music program for kids and adults of all ages.
“We are thrilled with the first 2 performances scheduled and thank the Dejas for all of their help and support,” stated Jason Silva, Executive Director of the Salem YMCA. “It has been a tremendous community effort to launch the music program. The purpose of the concerts is to help provide us with the resources to open the doors to the program to everyone that wants to participate.”
This newly renovated music studio will provide free instruction on instruments to Salem youth and teens, as well as provide the opportunity to record in a state of the art recording studio.
All of the profits from this concert series will directly support the music program and Salem youth.
